Programs & Services

Asset Development: Helping families retain more of their income and develop assets to make self-sufficiency a reality is central to the mission of Community Action.  Participation in the Individual Development Account (IDA) program, financial education, free tax preparation and education about the Earned Income Tax Credit are some of the ways RCA helps families realize their financial goals.
Child Care Services: Resource & Referral and Food Programs help families find safe, affordable Child Care, assist Child Care providers with training and resources, and help providers secure food subsidies and nutrition resources.
Crisis Assistance and Support: Through our five Community Action Centers, RCA provides help for those with immediate needs around basic food and shelter issues.  Homelessness prevention, assistance with security deposit/rent, and emergency food are some of the services provided to assist households deal with imminent or existing crises
Education and Employment: Workforce Investment Act and Workplace Success programs provide assistance to individuals seeking employment, from assessment and resume writing to developing an employment plan and re-training.
Energy: Fuel Assistance, Electrical Assistance, Weatherization programs assist families in crisis and provide energy conservation and income savings.
Head Start: Head Start is a comprehensive program designed to foster the comprehensive educational, health, nutritional and social development of low-income children while involving the families as well.
Health and Nutrition: Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Nutrition program,Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) and other programs aim to improve the health and nutritional status of infants, children, families and seniors.
Literacy: Adult Basic Education provides English classes to speakers of other languages, and assistance in obtaining a GED and enhancing learning skills to “native” adults. Other literacy programs designed to improve children’s ability to read, including Gift of Reading and Reading is Fundamental, aim to develop children’s ability to succeed in school.
Senior Services: Elderly Housing as well as nutrition programs and the Personal Emergency Response System are some of the services RCA provides for the        seniors in our communities.
Department of Health and Human Services, NH Electronic Application System: Eligible residents can now apply from home for State Assistance programs, over the internet. These Assistance programs include Food Stamps, cash assistance, Medicaid, child care scholarships and others.
